You don't have to — we handle that. But if it gives you peace of mind to do a factory reset first, go for it. Either way, we treat every device as if it still has sensitive data on it.

No — physical destruction applies specifically to the storage media inside the device: the hard drive, SSD, or flash memory chip. That component is drilled through or shredded so data is unrecoverable. The rest of the device — circuit boards, plastics, metals, display — is recycled normally. You get a certificate documenting exactly what was destroyed.
